J.I. Packer often pointed out that discipleship is not intuitive... it must be taught. This is why at the end of Matthew's gospel Jesus commissions his church to "... make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you." Matthew 28.19-20
Catechism - from the greek word katecheo (instruct) - is about providing opportunity for followers of Jesus to better know what they believe. At VIA it is our heart to deepen not only our knowledge 'about' God, but come to know Him in a real and life forming way as well.
Join us Tuesday nights from 7-9p (January 31 - March 21) as we explore together the foundations of our faith. This first set of classes, we will walk through the Apostles creed together using 'To Be A Christian - An Anglican Catechism'. Each classes will include a time of teaching, worship, lots of discussion and interaction, and space to consider how the beautiful truths of the gospel apply to our hearts and lives.
