Join us as we enter into Advent for an evening of soaking prayer. These evenings are designed as an opportunity to respond to Christ's invitation to those who are tired and heavy-laden.
"Come to me all who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest (anapauo)." Matthew 11.28
The Greek word anapauo, translated here as rest, means to cease and be rested. The rest that Jesus offers goes beyond what's possible apart from him. Augustine reminds us that our heart is restless until it finds its rest in God. We will set up safe and quiet space, and invite you to come as you are and rest in the presence of God.
"For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from him. He only is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be shaken. On God rests my salvation and my glory; my mighty rock, my refuge is God." Psalm 62.5-6
Come and let God’s presence minister to you, wherever you’re at, whatever you’re carrying.. come and find rest for your soul.
There will be some basic resources to aid you in prayer if they are helpful, and it's a good idea to bring your bible and a journal. There will also be prayer teams available to pray for you if you would like prayer throughout the evening.
