Advent means 'coming' - and in this incredible season the church enters into a time of anticipation and preparation. This year we'll be inviting people to remember how Christ came in the incarnation, will return in the second advent, and so to enter into a heightened kingdom expectation today!
John's gospel describes the beauty of the incarnation as light coming into darkness. About a month ago, as I was driving, a United Pursuit song gripped my heart in a profound way. "You speak and light shines out of darkness - you take emptiness away". I immediately knew that we were to lean into this exciting promise, and would like us to spend some time as a community considering how Christ's coming impacted places of emptiness. We stand, each of us, in need... waiting and longing to receive in places that until they are filled stand empty.
